The EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) is no longer on the horizon, it is here. Since 30 December 2024, MiCA has been fully applicable across the European Economic Area (EEA), introducing a harmonised framework for cryptoasset activities. For cryptoasset service providers (CASPs), issuers of asset referenced tokens (ARTs) and e-money tokens (EMTs), the pressure is on to demonstrate compliance readiness as national regulators begin spot checks and enforcement.
